Educate Yourself – Reflect – Inspire Others
We’ve already explored the “Rs” (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and your footprint. Now, we encourage you to go further. We’re not trying to convince you of the Earth’s problems or climate change; we want you to awaken your awareness by researching these issues for yourself. Use resources like books, documentaries, data from international organizations, and scientific research. If you need more, conduct your own field research – visit affected areas and learn about the problems in your community and around the world.
Surely, there’s a river, near where you live, yes, right outside your city.
Would you drink that water? Or swim in it? If not, what can you do to change this situation?
A large portion of the world’s population lives concentrated in cities, a kind of bubble that isolates us from the reality of the natural world. Within these urban environments, everything seems to function perfectly, but this appearance often conceals a complex reality.
Greenwashing is prevalent in all areas. For example, car companies promote their vehicles as the most eco-friendly, but the production of a car involves a global supply chain that generates a considerable carbon footprint. The same goes for smartphones and other electronic devices.
Perhaps it’s necessary to explore more sustainable alternatives, such as public transportation or simply walking. A fundamental roadmap in this regard is the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, approved by all United Nations Member States. Analyzing its objectives in depth could give us a clearer vision of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
