Living sustainably means finding harmony with our planet, our only home !
It involves adopting a life philosophy that translates into simple daily actions, accessible to everyone, regardless of lifestyle. Whether with family or individually, small changes in our habits can generate a significant impact, benefiting ourselves and the world around us. It’s never too late to start this journey.
Why is a philosophy of sustainable living crucial?
The world we will bequeath to future generations is in our hands. Current data reveals a worrying picture: accelerated and excessive consumption, as if resources were infinite, is creating an increasingly unequal world. We have exceeded the planet’s limits. “Overshoot Day”(1) or “Ecological Debt Day” marks the moment when we consume more resources than the Earth can regenerate in a year. We are living as if we had almost two planets at our disposal, an unsustainable situation.
The UN reports that the world population grew from 7 to 8 billion in just twelve years, and it is estimated to reach 9 billion by 2037(2). Overpopulation, in itself, is not the main problem. The real challenge is the unequal and excessive consumption of resources. The richest 10% of the world’s population is responsible for half of global emissions(3). Furthermore, the World Bank notes that 56% of the world’s population resides in cities, and this figure is expected to increase to 7 out of 10 people by 2050(4). Adopting a sustainable life is fundamental to regenerate damaged nature, improve our quality of life, optimize resource use, especially energy, and strengthen our health and that of our communities. It is an investment in a better future for all. The frenetic pace of consumption and the illusion of unlimited resources force us to rethink our way of life. After in-depth research, we have developed a 5-step guide to living more sustainably.
